PVD, which stands for Physical Vapour Deposition, gives the objects exceptional colours and shades. It consists of the deposition of metallic particles through vaporization in a vacuum chamber. The coating is welded on an atomic level to the stainless steel, giving the material greater hardness and resistance to rubbing and corrosion, thereby preventing the formation of rust or oxides. Thanks to the use of non-toxic materials such as titanium and zirconium, PVD is also used in the biomedical field as scalpels or surgical blades.
The Miroir flatware is the unique result of a synthesis of two exceptional fields of French expertise, executed by Ercuis' master silversmiths and by the last French workshop to practice the complex art of guilloche (or engine turning). Guilloche is an ornamentation technique that appeared in the 16th century and consists in creating decorations by chiseling the metal. This produces delicate geometric or floral patterns a tenth of a millimeter wide. A true work of art, this guilloche technique has enabled Ercuis to create nine refined designs to adorn the handles of its Miroir flatware. The heads of the cutlery and serving pieces are available in four refined finishes: silver-plated metal or PVD Gold, Copper or Black. Thanks to these different choices of personalization, each Miroir flatware is a unique, rare and precious piece, prized by lovers of contemporary luxury.
